Weekend Get Away

This past weekend we were able to get out of town for a few days and check out the Duluth Area. We had great weather for most of the weekend. We were able to drive up the North Shore and visit Gooseberry Falls along with Split Rock Lighthouse.

Little did we know that when we left Duluth early to avoid the storms, we would end up sitting in the middle of a tornado in Hugo. We are very lucky to have been safe and have our house in tack for the most part.

We didn't take any pictures of the storm damage to respect the privacy of people who have lost their homes. However, if you are interested Kare 11 (http://www.kare11.com/) has some nice coverage of the storm online. Thank you for all of you who called to check on us. We are just fine. The start of our house will be delayed at least one week. We are in no hurry, we are thankful that we still have a place to live! We will keep you posted once they do start our house.

The Big Meeting....

Well, we found out that our house is going to be starting on Tuesday. We are so excited! Today we had the opportunity to meet with the construction manager and go over all the details of our house. He was wonderful at answering all of our questions and making sure to give us all the details he could. It is a pretty tight schedule and the house will have something done on it everyday (weather permitting). We will take pictures as it all starts so you can see what is going on and try to keep posting pictures weekly.

Hope everyone enjoys the long weekend. Dan and I are heading up to Duluth for a few nights. He has never been. So, I am looking forward to showing him around and just being outside in this great weather we are suppose to have. Take care.

Here are some pictures of our site. Everything is all staked out ready to go. Sorry you will have zoom in on the pictures, they were the best we could get today. We were able to walk the site and go through where everything will go and how it will look today. Hard to imagine that in only a few short months, we will have a new house. We are very excited and thankful that we are able to do this. More room for when everyone comes to visit us!! We look forwarding to having you as our guests.

A day with Alaena Zayn

While Dan was working this weekend, I was able to go spend some time with our niece Alaena. It was fun to spend time with her playing. She is quite a funny little person. LOTS of facial expressions and she is more than ready to be able to talk your ear off. Here are a few pictures of her, she was not into taking pictures for me... normally she hams it up in front of a camera. She just wanted to be outside playing!

And the choices are....

Well, we have been busy here in MN.Last week our house was staked out and this week we went to the design studio and more than three hours later had picked out all of our final selections. No going back now! We are very excited with what we picked out and can't wait for the house to be done!

Seeing the house staked out helped us get more excited and actually see that this is going to start! We were told that the expected date to start digging will be May 28th if the weather cooperates, have to see about that. We have had some crazy weather here lately. When does it snow in April?? If the weather is nice on Sunday... I will go out and take some pictures so you can see the progress (stakes in the mud:) ).

Hope everyone is doing well. We can't wait to have you all come visit us.
