Marriage Building

Let me first start this post by saying that I have an amazing husband. He is so loving and ever so willing to help out with "house projects". I truly feel blessed to have that. I know they are rare!!! And we really do have have a good time doing them together.

Now, let me tell you that we have been slowly finishing our basement. Up until a few weeks ago we did not really have that many weekends off together or week nights. So projects were slow to finish and that was ok.  However, now that I am working mostly during the week and every few weekends I have found that I really am ambitious and trying to conquer the world!!

Project 1
Buy book shelf at IKEA and put it in basement.
(Now this doesn't sound like a hard task... but let me tell you!! )

We first had to borrow my parents suburban... umm, for those of you who like driving buses this vehicle is for you!! It just reiterated how much I NEVER want a van and surly NEVER EVER want a suburban!! Loading this book shelf into the borrowed bus was the start of the stress!  Then we had to carry it down the side of house (did you know we have a great hill for sledding?) Now to put it together... sure you save some money... but after we were half way through (not sure how much time we spent on it by this time) I was and would have been more than willing to pay a few extra bucks for directions with words!! Just an idea IKEA. After a few struggles and minor I mean  major mess ups ...no one will go named (Dan). We had it installed.
By the way did you know Dan has mad skills trying to remove nails out of boards and still be able to use the board and nails?? I didn't either till that night! Love you Dan!!
Needless to stay it turned out to be a huge marriage building exercise.

We even installed lighting!!!

Happy to report that we are still married and still very much love each other... but if you see the bookshelf I advise you just say how nice it looks and move on.

Here is our office area

This is becoming a favorite spot in our house.
We still need to put somethings on the wall, but thats for another weekend.

Project 2

I gave Dan a free pass on this project. I was busy re-finishing our bedroom furniture. As projects often do, it took WAY more time that I thought. However, I am very pleased with how they are turning out. I got the nightstands all done and one more coat of paint and I will have one of the dressers done. It's amazing at what a can of paint can do!!!

More pictures to follow of the dressers.
